Geoff Bullock (centre) with Rocco and Sue
The Australian Church is blessed by God with very talented musicians and vocalists - each contributing to the building of his Kingdom in unique ways! Geoff Bullock is one such artist who has certainly impacted the gospel music scene nationally and internationally! Of course, others are not as well known but passionate about spreading the gospel through song! This page is dedicated to all gospel musicians and vocalists great and small, past and present, who served or are
serving the very same awesome God!
Carols @ Southgate - Sylvania, Australia

The mixed vocal group "Heaven's Scent"
formed in August 1996 and joined one of our former church's Sunday worship team in January 1997. Although all band members have since moved on with most serving in other churches, they have been known to grab the rare opportunity to get together to "jam it for the Lord". The final line-up included Livia and Susan Scarcella, Rosemary Thompson, Wayne Sole,
Barry Butler and Angela Davis.

"Heaven's Scent" drew on such influences as black gospel, Geoff Bullock and Hillsong. They also wrote original compositions for worship and outreach. "Heaven's Scent" went on mission into the prison system and also took on such challenges as pre-schools, nursing homes, shopping centres and even rock'n'roll nights at local clubs! "They enjoyed a good reputation as Christmas carol "experts", having sung them for Christmas In July, Christmas in August and of
course at a number of venues during Christmas itself, strangely enough! They also featured at the 1998 Fairfield City Carols By Candlelight and also at the "World's Longest Buffet" in June 1999 and 2000 at Sydney's Darling Harbour (see article below).
Sue concludes: "For me, there were three things about "Heaven Scent" that made it so special: having opportunities to take Jesus into the marketplace, all those harmonies and the friendships!"

ARTICLE: THE WORLD'S LONGEST BUFFET - Sydney, Australia
Darling Harbour "awash" with over 40,000 hungry visitors!

On Sunday 18th June 2000, there were seemingly endless waves of hungry Sydney-siders and tourists literally lining the shores of our spectacular harbour for what has fast become one of the most significant public events on the Sydney Entertainment calendar! The tourists were conspicuously there again this year lining up for culinary delights from every imaginable place in the world! The Tibetan stand was extremely popular, along with many of the Japanese food stands and the
Cheesecake stand! It was certainly an extremely well-organised event!
A group of us from our church were in attendance along with some friends and relatives. Not simply to enjoy the food and the atmosphere but to represent our Church- and more importantly to present the gospel in song and testimony. We wanted to offer them "spiritual food" that would last an eternity!
Our band "Heaven's Scent" (HS) once again this year presented a special 45 minute program of songs and testimony. Last year, they sang at the stage near the Maritime Museum, but this year they were at the Palm Grove stage near the IMAX theatre - a much more accessible location. Between those who sat and listened for the entire performance and those who stopped for a song or two, HS must have had quite a large audience.
Reaction to the message of the songs ranged from surprised to extremely positive. One Japanese tourist videoed most of the performance. Two Americans asked one of our group (Tim Davis) where our church was because they liked "that sort of music". And you could easily spot the Christians as they stopped, because they were singing along with all the Hillsongs! The band sang mostly gospel music, much of it the songs we do in church, along with some chart music by bands such as U2, The
Dixie Chicks and Savage Garden.
We praise God for His goodness! Rain had been predicted, but did not happen until well after the band had finished. In fact, the weather was perfect for the occasion -neither too hot nor too cold - and Darling Harbour was still jam-packed full of people well into the evening. It
was another wonderful opportunity to present Christ to large numbers of people, who otherwise may never go anywhere near a church.
We hope you enjoy the snapshots below!
