We live on high ground! We have had a fair bit of rain however. It was certainly a strange summer. READING FROM THE WORD OF GOD They were hungry and thirsty, and their lives ebbed away. Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could settle. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things. Psalm 107:5-9 (NIV) The basic needs of hunger and thirst can never be underrated. No matter how many toys we possess, nothing can push aside these two basic desires. That is because we are programmed from birth to live! Yet humans can eat, indeed overeat, drink, indeed overindulge, and still feel empty inside. When our Lord Jesus was tempted in the desert, he cried out, "It is written: man shall not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God." Without the Living Bread, we still hunger, no matter whether our stomachs be full or not. Jesus says:"I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to me will never go hungry and he who drinks from me will never be thirsty." (John 6:35) TESTIMONY "I blamed God for the fact that I had to grow up without a father. I never got into drugs or alcohol, just played the role of a hypocrite--pretending to be something I wasn't. I set myself up as a judge of people. Then, my Senior year in High School, I began to hang around with some old friends. It was through them that I began to realize God's true, undying love for me. Later in the year I gave myself back to Him. I've begun to put my trust in God and I've started realizing that I had been blaming God for leaving me alone as a child when it was really God Who raised me. Now I want to tell others about His amazing grace and forgiveness. If He can forgive me,He can do anything." Jamie. So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a chocolate cake. Hey! I feel better already! --submitted by Pat C ***GREAT TRUTHS ABOUT LIFE THAT ADULTS HAVE LEARNED -There is always a lot to be thankful for, if you take the time to look. For example, I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt. -One reason to smile is that every seven minutes of every day, someone in an aerobics class pulls a hamstring. -Car sickness is the feeling you get when the monthly payment is due. -The best way to keep kids at home is to make a pleasant atmosphere - and let the air out of their tires. -Families are like fudge . . . mostly sweet, with a few nuts. -Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground. -Middle age is when you choose your cereal for the fiber, not the toy. -If you can remain calm, you just don't have all the facts. --submitted by Tim B ***Kids' Advice to Kids . . .
