If that is how you feel as you receive the Hits!, let God Himself remind you: "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it." READING FROM THE WORD OF GOD Jesus said to his disciples: "I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. "In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me." John 16: 12-16 (NIV) We, in Sydney, experienced 45 Deg PLUS Celsius(110F?) the other day. It was not a pleasant experience, but that evening there came a cool wind that chased away the heat completely. That was a pleasant experience, until the wind became so strong that it caused massive damage all over the metropolitan area. The Holy Spirit can be a little like that. He can brings initial refreshing to our souls, but He will not leave it there. He upturns our values, takes us out of our comfort zones, changes our lives forever. Earlier in Chapter 14, Jesus says that the world cannot accept the Spirit. That is because Truth in its purest sense is like searing heat to a world in rebellion. TESTIMONY Here is a true story from a footballer who was "Tackled by Jesus"! "I was a huge two hundred twenty pound football player who traveled with the crowd, drank, smoked, and did drugs and could get along with everybody except my mom. The football field was where I vented my anger. But mom was still too much for me and I decided to end it all. I didn't care about life and no one cared about me. The Methodists had a retreat, and I went on it, sang and had fun, with Christians. I didn't believe it. The last day we are given a chance to go and pray in a little church nursery. I went and Jesus had a gift for me in that little room that I will never forget. I opened my heart to Him and prayed and cried about everything in my life. Today, I am an "on fire" Christian." --"Tackled By Jesus" PRAYER POINTS ***Thank God that He loved us so much that He sent His son to die for us. ***Thank God for His cleansing fire. Pray that Jesus stands with us in the furnace so that we can stand it. ***Praise God for His Spirit who comforts us and points us to the truth. ***Praise God for the continued growth of Amelia D. Pray for her hearing. ***Keep Roger in your prayers as the cancer worsens. ***Pray for the people of El Salvador in this time of great sorrow. May they know that "El Salvador" (the Saviour) is still cares about them. ***Keep the persecuted brothers and sisters throughout the world in your prayers. May the new year bring relief to their troubles. ***Pray for those in search of work and those suffering from ill health that they may be comforted. HAHAHA CORNER *** Census Taker The census taker knocked on Dulcie's door. She answered all his questions except one. She refused to tell him her age. "But everyone tells their age to the census taker," he said. "Did Miss Maisy Hill and Miss Daisy Hill tell you their ages?" she asked. "Certainly," he replied "Well, I'm the same age as they are," she snapped. He then wrote on his form "As old as the Hills." --Anon. *** RIDDLE OF THE DAY What is one thing that all wise men, regardless of their religion or politics, agree is between Heaven and Earth? A: The word 'and'. --Anon. *** Car Keys The couple arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up their new car. The embarrassed blonde saleswoman, explained to the couple that she had accidently locked the keys in the car. At that moment a young blonde mechanic arrived from the service department. The couple went to the waiting room while the mechanic started work. After nearly half an our, the couple returned to see how it was going. With the saleswoman watching intently, the mechanic worked feverishly to unlock the driver's side door. As the couple watched from the passenger's side, The wife instinctively tried the door handle and discovered it was open. "Hey," she announced to the blonde technician, "It's open!" "I know," answered the young man. "I already got that side." --Anon. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Well that's your lot for this week! Keep those jokes coming in, please!
