I can hear you all sympathising...with your tongues firmly planted in your cheeks. LOL READING FROM THE WORD OF GOD Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder", "Do not steal", "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbour as yourself." Love does no harm to its neighbour. Therefore love is the fulfilment of the law. Romans 13:8-10 (NIV) "I said that for your own good," mouthed the woman, having attacked the other person's personality, abilities, and interests. Was it really for their good or to vent the anger of the woman herself? How could she be so blind as to think she assassinated her colleague out of love? Look at Peter. He was an impulsive character, the type who wanted to walk on the water, and who was the first to claim he would follow Jesus to the death, yet he ran like a frightened deer when Jesus was arrested and denied he even knew Him. After His resurrection, how did Jesus approach Peter? Did He sit him down and go through all his shortcomings? Did He harp on Peter's failures? No, simply asked him three times(once for every denial). "Peter, do you love me?" He forgave him, despite the fact that he knew that Peter's personality would still get in the way every now and then, and that Peter would continue to rub some people up the wrong way occasionally. Jesus fulfilled the law to the letter. TESTIMONY Jason writes:"For ten years I was an everyday drunk. I was in rehab twice, the county jail and in prison. After prison, my life style was unchanged. My wife divorced me and then my present wife and I started getting into fights. Alcoholics Anonymous wasn't enough for me. I had to find God, the real God, not just one of my choice. My cousin, who is a preacher, invited me to his office one day. I thought he was going to ask me to play softball but to my suprise he led me in some Scripture mostly from Romans. He asked me if I would like to get saved. I said, "Yes." I asked Jesus into my life as Lord and Saviour. I was no longer a alcoholic I was a new man." PRAYER POINTS **Thank God for His love and for His great ability to forgive. Thank Him that, despite our shortcomings, He seeks us out anyway. ** Thank Him that He throws our sins as far as the east is from the west and remembers them no more. ** Thank Him if we have a solid government and a good economy. Pray for those who do not. Pray for Indonesia, various African countries, Fiji and the Solomon Islands. ** Pray for the families of those who perished in the crash of the Concorde outside of Paris. ** One of our Netsters asks prayer for her family. Her daughter's husband has become abusive through alcohol and has subjected his wife and baby to abuse. They have left him, but he is threatening trouble. There will be legal action. ** Ben Adelman's sister Michelle wrote: "Thanks for taking the time to respond to my prayer request. Ben is hanging in there; my parents have consulted with a natural medicine doctor who has some very good ideas for relieving the side effects of his chemotherapy with herbs and enzymes. He goes for a CT scan in 3 months to see if the tumors are shrinking. His spirits are pretty good under the circumstances. Having a young, vital person in the family suffering like this in the prime of his life is a real test of faith. It means the world to our family knowing we have the spiritual support of others, so we thank you very very much." Keep Ben in your prayers. **Gina L has only a couple of weeks of pregnancy left, and Lynn D has 5 weeks. Pray for them both. ** Keep the children of Blimbingsari Orphanage in your prayers as they settle in for the new school year. ENCOURAGEMENT "What men and women need is encouragement. . . . Instead of always harping on a man's faults, tell him of his virtues. Try to pull him out of his rut of bad habits. -- Eleanor H. Porter Those who are lifting the world upward and onward are those who encourage more than criticize. -- Elizabeth Harrison" --submitted by Warren Cox "I really believe in the power of encouragement. We all know that rough diamonds have flaws. The challenge is to find the gem that is hidden within." Anon FACT OF THE DAY: Percentage of American men who say they would marry the same woman if they had it to do all over again: 80% Percentage of American women who say they'd marry the same man: 50% HAHAHA CORNER "*The telephone company is urging people to *please* not use the telephone unless it is absolutely necessary in order to keep the lines open for emergency personnel. We'll be right back after this break to give away a pair of Phil Collins tickets to caller number 95." - Los Angeles disc jockey, right after the February 1990 earthquake **"I have good news and bad news," the defense attorney told his client. "First the bad news. The blood test came back, and your DNA is an exact match with that found at the crime scene." "Oh, no!" cried the client. "What's the good news?" "Your cholesterol is only 140." --anon. ***The doctor took Algenon into the room and said, "Algenon, I have some good news and some bad news." Algenon said, "Give me the good news." "They're going to name a disease after you." --submitted by Chris Foley **The Pearl An elderly couple were on a cruise and it was really stormy. They were standing on the back of the boat watching the moon, when a wave came up and washed the old man overboard. They searched for days and couldn't find him, so the captain sent the old woman back to shore with the promise that he would notify her as soon as they found something. Three weeks went by and finally the old woman got a fax from the boat. It read: Ma'am, sorry to inform you, we found your husband dead at the bottom of the ocean. We hauled him up to the deck and attached to his foot was an oyster and inside the oyster was a pearl worth $50,000...please advise. The old woman faxed back: Send me the pearl, re-bait the trap. --submitted by Pat Croisant ================================= Sue: "Rocco, you know how when Jesus returns, there will be no sickness or death or anything sad?"
