Chances are that the summer clothes will not be seen again for a few months! We hear that our capital, Canberra (about 3 hours south of us) will get a rare snowfall this weekend. READING FROM THE WORD OF GOD In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:1-3 (NIV) What is the most important thing that happens in any church? Is it the fellowship? Is it the liturgy? Is it the work that its members do amongst the sick or the poor and needy? These may be important aspects in church life, but Paul charges Timothy with one thing and one thing only: Preach the Word. The life of any congregation of believers must revolve around the teaching of the Scriptures. We, as Christians, can never value the Word of God too highly. In the Old Testament, we read that the word should be written on hands and foreheads, and more importantly, in our hearts. It should be read to our children, and lived out in our lives. And we cannot delay in the telling of it, because, as Paul writes, there will come a time when people will not listen. They will only hear what they want to hear, and their hearts will be closed to the truth. While there is still time, let us preach the Word. TESTIMONY We often take our freedoms lightly. Here, JP, an Indian brother, tells us what life was like for his family: "My parents were strong Hindus worshipping idols for generations in India. My mother accepted Jesus and was kicked out of her house. She and my father left all that they had and started to work for their living from a poor job. Jesus was more precious than all they had lost. Her relatives laughed at them and persecuted them. But they brought all six of us up. One day we were all starving to death. My brothers were praying and out of nowhere, a big wind blew almost to tear away our housetop made of leaves. But suddenly many 100 Rs currency bills fell on top of my brothers in the place where they were praying. We NEVER SUFFERED ANY LACK A SINGLE DAY. Great is HIS FAITHFULNESS (Lamentations 3:23), I am now in ministy and God is saving thousands in India." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ HERE'S A FEW WAYS TO HELP BLIMBINGSARI ORPHANAGE, INDONESIA: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ***Join AllAdvantage through this link and you'll be helping to support the orphans (and earning for yourself)- simply by being online! He pulls the car over to the side of the road and notices that the farmer is just standing there, doing nothing, looking at nothing. The man gets out of the car, walks all the way out to the farmer and asks him, "Ah excuse me mister, but what are you doing?" The farmer replies, "I'm trying to win a Nobel Prize." "How?" asks the man, puzzled. "Well I heard they give the Nobel Prize to people who are out standing in their field." --submitted by Paul D **I had been teaching my three-year old daughter, Caitlin, the Lord's Prayer. For several evenings at bedtime, she would repeat after me the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word, right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us some e-mail. Amen." --submitted by A.
